Elon Musk has officially introduced X Money as a new beta feature on X.com. It is currently invite-only, so only few people can use it right now.
This system has two important features: First, it gives users a Visa debit card which connects directly to their digital wallet. Second, people can use it to send real-time money transfers to each other very fast during live chats.
Since X is a social media platform and not an official bank, it is teaming up with Cross River Bank to handle the banking aspect and keep user money safe with FDIC insurance. X must get approvals from different country regulators before it can fully launch the feature. This is a step closer to Elon's "everything app" plan, and also reminiscent of the original X.com.
